“Philip saith unto him, Come and see” – John 1:46
Wherever you are in life, the invitation Jesus gives is simple: Come and See.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is more than a teacher, a prophet, or a name from history. The Bible tells us that HE is the Son of GOD, sent into the world because GOD loves us.
“For GOD so loved the world, that He gave HIS only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. HE came for ordinary people – for the hurting, the broken, the questioning, and those who know they need a Savior.
Why do we need JESUS?
The Bible tells us that all of us have sinned. None of us can make ourselves right with GOD by simply trying harder or doing enough good things.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD;” – Romans 3:23
Sin separates us from GOD, but GOD did not leave us without hope.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
That is the Good News.
Jesus came for us. HE took our sin to the cross, died, was buried, and rose again.
What did JESUS do for you?
JESUS willingly went to the cross and gave HIS life for us. HE took the punishment for our sin so that through HIM we could be forgiven and reconciled to GOD.
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to GOD, being put to death in the flesh, but
quickened by the Spirit:” – 1 Peter 3:18
But the cross was not the end. JESUS rose from the grave. HE is alive, and because HE lives, the promise of salvation and eternal life is real.
“HE is not here: for HE is risen, as HE said” – Matthew 28:6
How can I be saved?
Salvation is not something we earn by being good enough, religious enough, or by trying harder. It is a gift from GOD, received by grace through faith in JESUS CHRIST.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD: not of works, lest any man should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
The Bible tells us to repent and believe the Gospel – turn to GOD and place our trust in what JESUS CHRIST has done for us.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of GOD is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel.” – Mark 1:15
What must I do?
You do not need to clean yourself up before coming to JESUS. Come to HIM as you are. Turn from your sin and place your faith in JESUS CHRIST – believing that HE died for your sins and that GOD raised HIM from the dead.
“That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” – Romans 10:9
Salvation is found in JESUS CHRIST.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13
You can talk to GOD right now.
You do not need special words or a perfect prayer. GOD knows your heart. You can come to HIM honestly – acknowledging your sin, trusting in what JESUS CHRIST has done for you, and asking HIM to save you.
Prayer is simply a way of expressing to GOD the faith that is in your heart.
If you are ready, talk to HIM. Tell HIM you know you have sinned. Tell HIM you believe JESUS died for you and rose again. Ask HIM to forgive you, save you, and help you follow JESUS from this day forward.
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” – John 6:37
What Now?
If you have placed your faith in JESUS CHRIST, this is not the end – it is the beginning of a new life with HIM.
Begin spending time with GOD in prayer and reading HIS Word. Find a Bible-believing church where JESUS CHRIST and the Gospel are faithfully taught. As you learn HIS Word, follow HIM in obedience and grow alongside other believers.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
